I brought a 1980 yamaha RX125 for restoration as my school project and have some issues and questions I would like to clear up.
Firstly, What is the difference between a RS125 and my RX125? Which parts are interchangeable and which parts are not? I couldn't find much sites that sells parts for RX125, and i am worry that if i buy parts for the RS model, they will not fit. Overall, are the whole RS series and the RX models similar designs?
Secondly, the motor that came with the bike is not working; I got it to a workshop and one of the guys said it will cost at least 500 bucks to repair it after a quick look. I am thinking about getting another running motor from a wrecker instead but not sure which motors will fit (as a good RX125 motor are extremely hard to come across). Time is running out for my project and i cant afford to much time welding and modifying. I've heard that a DT125 motor is identical, is this true? What are the other possible engines. It doesn't really have to be a 125 engine right?
